Just thought you guys would approve of these two beauties ? They were,along with lots of other very interesting cars, at a show in Farnham last Sunday. Am I correct in thinking a million quid each??

The green thing is a Lagonda "homage" to the Le Mans cars.

Not sure if it's a million quid though. Sold for £140,000 in 2007.

That`s interesting,I thought it was a restored original, what is it? Is it a 1939 Lagonda ? or a car built much later to look like a 1939 Lagonda? The Merc` is a "real one" though and I`m sure that would swop hands for the best part of a mill`.

Lagonda built two special V12 cars for the 1939 Le Mans 24 Hours. Chassis number 14089 (registered as HPL 448) finished third and the second car finished fourth. I'm not sure how original this car is, as both cars were blown to bits by a doodlebug in 1944.

Chassis Number 16024 (registered as MG 6702) is a replica of the original team cars, based on a Lagonda V12 road car.

Thanks for the info Roy,I`ve just checked DVLA and its down as a Sept 1939 car,4185cc.So we can say it IS a 39 car that`s been modified to look like another model of the same year.

I own the first V12 made by WO Bentley, the car is stamped for expermental number 1. It is mentioned in the above article, driven by Howe around brooklands in a saloon form and did the record of 100 miles in an hour. Before we purchased it the saloon body was removed and a Le Mans body added.

Less than 200 v12s were made, so the car you saw has also opted for a Le Mans body to be added.

I know the owner(s) of both cars...

The Gullwing had a factory restoration performed by Mercedes Benz - in explicit detail. Even down to matching the correct leather for the suitcase which sits on the rear parcel shelf. It came back around a month ago having just won Pebble Beach.

The Lagonda is raced by the owner... and when I last saw it, he'd just broken the gearbox!
