Put the question on here regarding Wrap's for the car and had mixed reactions after being told it would be £1100 for a premier grade vinyl.Which is not to bad for whats involved.
Came across this chap not a million miles away from me for spraying the car now this chap is 75 yrs old and does this for a hobby now [he was a sprayer] he's going to be doing 5 base coats and 5 top coats and will take him 8 days to prepare and respray the car in the same colour for £850, good or what.
Will be done for the Wedge Fest, see you there.

Bit toooo far for me, but it's a bit cheaper than mine's gonna be. Going in 11th June, so that makes two wrapped Wedges for the 'Fest'. Mmmm interesting

I have a sprayer just a few miles away from me and I believe he charges about a 1k for a respray on a Wedge providing there is no damage. They've done work for me before on a previous Wedge and I was well happy. They had sprayed virtually all of the front end and it was an excellent match. Don't forget the Wedge has no roof to spray, and they now use water base paint and lacquer.

When i looked around down here the cheapest spray job I found was 2500 hence the wrap for a grand looked a very good deal for my available budget

OT.
To the guys who have had their Wedges wrapped... Did the wrapper give any indication as to how easy/difficult the Wedge is?
How does it look?

A wrap is good if your paint is tired but in some instances it can apparently affect the lacquer of the original paintwork..I will phone a couple this arvo and find out the pros and cons and if they have ever wrapped a wedge!!...Ziga

What worries me about wrapping is what will happen in the future if the car needs another re spray. It must be a nightmare to remove and at a price I would imagine. Also if the car was involved in a minor accident and needed a section re done. Otherwise it all sounds fine to me and we've got the case all wrapped up.

As far as i know when talking to the wrap guy that there are different types of vinyl some with spots of glue on them and others just vinyl like Oracal premier grade which might be easier to come off compared to the others with the glue, also been told that the vinyl comes in 1.2mtr wide which means that on the front end of the car there will be a join between bottom of bonnet and top of headlight.
As for picking a colour it doesnt matter what you go for you dont have to tell the DVLA.
PS -- bonnet itself is about 1.2mtr x 1.2mtr.

Guy that's doing mine comes recommended as well. I've prepped the whole car, sorted out all the stone chips and gelcoat issues, tidied up all the light apertures and door shuts, and will remove mirrors, lights, bonnet and bootlid just to make his life a bit easier and to make sure the wrap goes behind a many items as poss. I know lots of cheap wraps are known to be just butted up against things and not tucked behind. The vinyl's from Hexis I think and comes with a 10 year guarantee. Can't wait to see what its gonna look like. Going in on 11th. Good luck with yours

Mike
