AC compressor not engaging - 1993 XJ40 4.0

Hi can anyone give me some pointers on what to look for, all buttons on dash are working fine but no cold air, then I looked at the compressor and the magnetic clutch does not engage.

It could be worth checking the relay!
That's what I found to be faulty on a previous car, albeit a VW Golf!

Low gas or no gas will inhibit the clutch.

Yes best to check the gass every two years

Sometimes there is a sight glass to see if there is any movement

To be honest I can see that the gas hasn't been checked or changed for a long time

There days there is quite a complex unit to take out the old gas, check for leaks, re-oil and re-charge with new gas

If I remember about £60 well worth it
