Will i need a remap ?
Discussion
Just bought a 97 Impreza Wagon turbo which still has the standard exhaust fitted, i will be changing this for a full turbo back decat system but have been told it will then need a remap. Is this correct and possible on these earlier cars, if so anyone know of somewhere in the South wales area who could do this. Thanks in advance.
Uk car, it had been for sale in local garage for best part of 2 years so i took a gamble and offered half the asking price which was accepted albeit no mot or warranty. Passed its mot today so i finally got the chance to drive it, running a little on the rough side and nowhere near as quick as the 93 wrx i just sold. Turns out the guy who sold it to the garage had a fully decat exhaust fitted to the car but put the standard one back on for the sale, so im thinking maybe it was already mapped for the decat exhaust and thats why its not running quite right with the standard one. Make any sense ?
No remap required assuming all else is ok with the engine. i have a my97 wagon with exhaust, sport cat and bell mouth. Fuel cut defender and bleed valve to give 16bar boost and a guage to keep an eye on peak boost. Currently on 153000 miles and its been set up like this for 90000 miles. No problems so far.

If you do decide to go down the remap route, ESL http://www.enduringsolutions.com/ would be the most cost effective way to do it. Fitted and mapped is around £550.
