So, ok for Le Mans 24, but as an fyi for those doing the Classic, new French law is that a Breathalyser needs to be in the car (driver only). This Breathalyser must be of the type that complies to French specs. Halfords (and others) have these I believe - they're cheap - don't get ripped off by scaremongering.

Law was passed in Feb for a July 1st start but fining for non compliance is from November (11 Euros). Don't let the wellied uniforms demand a fine until then - remind them you got the info online from the Sécurité Routière.

They're available on the ferry, pack of 2 for £5. Speaking to the bloke in store at Dover port, they were stocking them, but had none when i went to Spa.

I'm sure it's law from July 1st but may be wrong?

Yup, July 1st is the intro but on spot fines supposed to be from 1st Nov... In between then must be a slap on the wrist and a warning - presumably.

As above, law will not be implemented (acted on) until Nov. No need to panic this year!

They are a funny lot sometimes... always singling out the stranger.

For this year I've put German type plates on so will see how interested they are in pulling me over this time (a yearly event). Lightened my pocket of 130 Euros on the return journey on the A28 down from Rouen.

Get them in the supermarkets when you stock up on beer.
