Recommend me a pub for a Sunday lunch. I know a few but looking for some new choices: give me your best shots.

Pricey - The Angel at Hetton, The Yorke Arms near Pately Bridge

Average - The Red Lion at Burnsall, Fountaine Inn at Linton

Budget - The Craven Arms at Appletreewick.

All on top roads for a little Lotus.

The Anchor Inn at Whixley (Just off the A59 between York and the A1)does us nicely.

And you don't have to wait until Sunday for a carvery as they serve from 6-9pm on evenings. The steak pie with a proper suet crust is why I'm not a trained athlete biggrin

The Fleece at Addingham. It's even better now than when Chris Monkman had it. Very reasonable, good food and if the weather behaves... a nice outdoor dining area. You can always zip through Bolton Abbey or the fast bit of the A59 between Swinsty reservoir and Beamsley, or Bolton Abbey through to Burnsall, before or after your lunch. The only downside is the dales traffic on a Sunday and the bcensoredy caravans tend to spoil your fun, unless you're out early!

Also, consistently great food at The General Tarleton nr. Knareborough, or a bit further out near Thirsk there's the Crab & Lobster, both very good.

The Warfedale Inn at Arthington (near to Pool-in-Warfedale)

They have a restaurant and pub grub separate, but I've never ordered in the restaurant as it's so good in front of the fire, or chilled out in the bar.

Did I mention Black Sheep on tap too?

Huge portions, loads of parking, smashing.

The anchor at Whixley is very good. The carvery is amazing.

The bay horse at Kirk Deighton is also quite nice.

The shepherds in at Melmerby is also nice; and it's just at the start of the Hartside pass which is a fantastic road. Bit far out but lots of good roads to get there.

The Sportsmans Arms at Wath just outside Pately Bridge. Great roads to get to it too.

Also The Tiger Inn at Coneythorpe, just off the A59 between Knaresborough and the A1.

Or, The Timble Inn at Timble. ten mins from Otley near the reservoirs. Again, lovely little place amidst great driving country.

The Oak tree Inn at Helperby and The Crown at Roecliffe are both very good, and found down B-roads.

Me too. The Anchor is in pole position for Sunday smile

I know about half the other recommendations and they are certainly no duffers there. I look forward to trying the others over the summer.

In case anyone is interested I'd add the CB Inn just outside Reeth, Grantley Arms near Ripon, Greyhound in Tong, and the Lion on Blakey Ridge to the list.

Thanks all and keep adding any you know of.

The feathers in Helmsley does probably the best Sunday lunch pound for pound across the NY Moors. Well priced, serve yourself so decent portions and meat that is cooked to absolute perfection. Bar meals are only OK but they do excel at Sunday lunch.

Perfect spot for stopping off when enjoying the Moors TT too.
