How do you collect Shell points when paying at the pump?

My local Shell stations have ‘pay at pump’, which is useful, but there’s no indication as to how to collect shell points when using this feature. Does anyone do this successfully? If so, how?

You insert your shell card before you fuel. After you've selected "pay at pump" it'll tell you to "insert shell loyalty card or payment card". I think it also asks you again once you've inserted your bank card and says "insert shell loyalty card or begin fuelling".

Sorry to dig up an old thread but does anyone know how to use the new pay at pump systems that Shell have rolled out to all service stations in the UK? As confirmed above, with the old system you first put in your Shell Drivers Card and then your payment card but with the new system when you put in your drivers card it rejects it but accepts a payment card. I rejected the transaction and paid at the desk just in case I missed out on points. I have asked several petrol stations but nobody who works there knows how to use the new system.

Anybody here used them and got the drivers club to work?
