Nice looking car but an RS steering wheel and air ducts do not make an RS specced car.
Firstly the car is a Carrera 4. Although it looks like it has the optional sports seats, they are not RS seats. The suspension is lowered but to what specification? Probably not M030.
I am not slagging the car off. It looks lovely. But it is not even close to being an RS spec car.

[quote=h_] There seem to be a few " RS Spec / hommage " C4s around at the moment.

I had noticed that too.
There was/is a lovely red one which obviously had a lot spent.
Personally, I don't see the point. The Carrera 4 is a good car as it is. No mods are going to make it feel like a 2WD car. I have to wonder if the point of adding RS modifications is just to get the look.
I drove plenty of both before choosing and waited for a C2.

I guess people by a C4 and then enjoy it, learn more about 964s, like the RS look, make a few changes to their car and before you know it you have a hommage based on a C4. If people like the cosmetic look and arent going to reach the limits of handling, then it probably works well.
My personal view is wait for a nice C2 and start from there. Life / cars are never that logical though - which makes it more fun.
I do see some of those have stuck RS badges on the back!! Thats pretty poor in my book, but thats just me.

It might well be a nice C4 for someone looking for one but I do think the 'RS spec' description is getting a little over used these days. In this case the ad says:
RS spec includes:
- RS steering wheel
- RS air ducts
- Clear lenses
- rear window spoiler
- lowered
- teardrop mirrors
- 17" Cup I alloys
- Sports exhaust (sounds wonderful)
- Racing clutch
In my book very little of the above constitute 'RS spec'! The steering wheel is actually a clubsport wheel that was not in the RS, the RS didn't have air ducts or clear lenses as standard. They certainly didn't have a rear window spoiler. The lowering probably bears little resemblance to RS suspension. They probably mean by sports exhaust that it has a G pipe, which the RS didn't have and the cups are unlikely to be RS mags. So that leaves us with teardrop mirrors and possibly and RS clutch/LWF upgrade that can stay on the list!

looks like the ad has been updated since my initial link.... for the money its worth a punt although it looks like originally a south africa car and the missing service book is a pain
all things considered if i were in the market id have a look! even if im not in the market i might have a look!

I'd hazard aguess at the mirrors being electric, so not RS spec either RS spec includes:

First F plate car Ive ever seen though, so a real early one
Looks nice in the shocking pictures and has had a lot spent recently, though that's not that difficult at Charles Ivey from what Ive read! (new wiper blades and fuel cap gasket £119.00 for a start!!)
edited for some shocking spelling!

The previous owner of my car was charged €177 for a DME relay by an independent specialist.

OPC I might expect, but an indy ripping someone off like that, poor form The previous owner of my car was charged €177 for a DME relay by an independent specialist.
He has a reputation for good work and being expensive. I now know why.

I agree and that was part of my point by saying it could be a nice C4 for someone
. The extra information about the work done and money spent (albeit added after this thread was started) tends to back that up. Therefore there's no need for them to jazz it up as an 'RS spec' 964 when it's clearly not. If I ever come to sell mine I'll just describe it as a plain old Carrera 2 and list all the work that has been done and let folks decide on what they think of it.Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
