Adding PSE (sports exhaust) to Cayman R?

In my endless quest for a perfect Cayman R, I'm struggling, but noticed one with a good spec apart from it doesn't have the PSE, which after testing a number of them I simply cannot live without.

In light of the eye watering price to add a/c (another thread), has anyone had PSE retro fit or know how much it is?

I don't want to go down the route of an after market product.

I would enquire direct to the OPC as part of the deal. They can replace it and you will just get less knocked off the deal than you might otherwise have hoped for.

You can definitely add it - PSE is a T equipment option. I'd have thought it's at least £2k. If you've found a new car you like from an OPC, why not make its addition one of the conditions of sale? Or at least a big discount on getting the work done?

Got PSE and Sport Mode retrofitted to my Cayman S relatively recently and I believe the invoice was in the region of £2,600.

Thanks for your comments, that certainly opens up the possibility of a couple more cars...and much easier than retro fitting aircon to a Spyder

I would go FVD route as they have ECU upgrade and valve operate exhaust available with smaller cost than original parts.

the cheapest route is Gerts modded oem exhaust at £380

or he is avertising this
"GT exhaust made from new CaymanR boxes"

which is a option.

I would not pay 2.5 k for a PSE when you can geta aftermarket Ti one for 1.8k or gerts for £380.

Isn't so bad if negotiated within the price though, but would prefer to have it already spec'd. One OPC has quoted me 2.1k fitted.

Don't fancy an aftermarket jobbie, causes too much hassle with my insurance!

Beware that the Cayman R uses different PSE boxes with bigger inlet tubes.
The regular 987-2 PSE retrofit has the smaller tubes.

I am about to retro-fit PSE to my 2.9 Boxster at Leeds.

Initially the price was quoted at 2.5K although they agreed to do the work for £1995 after saying there was an offer on.

Expensive, but I also do not wish to go for aftermarket and possibly invalidate the warranty.

Oh, that is interesting, so there isn't an option to have the correct CR PSE fitted?

I can appreciate that, but it is a question of what they'd put on the car and me not knowing whether it is the specific Cayman R version or not. The option on the configurator for PSE on both Cayman S and Cayman R is the same price, though not sure that confirms they are indeed the same.

The parts man will know on a vin number, I think only the headers are different, I would bet the back box might be the same. Put put a vin number in the OPC computer and all options come up.

£2.1k fitted? They can do better than that! Phone a few OPCs and ask them their price, I bet one or two would be better than that without you buying a car!

That is a good point, no reason why the dealership with the car must do the work, could have it done much more locally! Will phone around, though am a little concerned that I won't get exactly the correct one as you get from the factory!

Im pretty sure an OPC won't fit anything other than a PSE?

Don't worry about that, the dealership will fit the correct one! If you get one and get it fitted we can test the sound of yours and mine
