Frightened to go to Le Mans

So Iv'e booked the crossing through the tunnel and got somewhere to stay at Le Mans.

Was planning to go with a mate in my DB9 (all stickered up of course).

Now people are giving me the eeby jeebies telling tales of last years puncture on a porsche and not being able to get a replacement tyre for 3 days so effectively missing the race.

What does everyone else do? I'm assuming the puncture repair thingy is less than useless for anything other than a minor puncture?

Do I buy a tow bar and tow a trailer with spares???

Don't even worry about it. Worst case, use your breakdown insurance, get flatbedded to the nearest town, drink wine and eat good food.

Been there, done that. Impromptu stopover in Alençon thanks to our scooby catching fire.

If you thought about all the other bad things that could happen to you then you wouldn't get out of bed in the morning.

Punctures happen, it's no more likely than normal I would have thought - there will always be isolated cases of "stuck for 3 days" - but no more so than any other time travelling across europe?

Drive over and enjoy yourself. You've got 100% chance of missing the race if you don't go, and probably a 0.001% chance of driving over, getting a puncture and missing the race.

I had a puncture in Andorra in my last car part way through a 14 day tour.
Forced me to stay an extra day whilst I waited for tyres.
They can be had easy enough.
Punctures aren't common enough to worry about IME of Euro tours.

If you worry about things like that you will never do anything and a beautiful car designed for the road will live in a garage.
Just do it and take out breakdown insurance to cover any unfortunate incidents.

It's fine. Been to the 24hrs there in a Jag XJR 100 (faultless), TVR T350 (somewhat less faultless), Audi S4 (locked keys in boot and had to break a window; far from ideal but plenty of French assistance available) and finally in my Subaru racer (also faultless i'm pleased to add) so you will have no issues in getting the assistance you need.

We're heading down in our DB9. Hadn't even thought about it!! Now i have though....

What crossing are you on? Currently desperately trying to make a Merlot DB9 look "le Mans" with lots of stickers!

What was the story regarding the TVR T350?

Having made it from Aberdeen to Rosyth (Edinburgh) and then Zeebrugge to the town of Le Mans it then decided to have a hairy fit and begin overheating every time were below 10mph. Can't quite remember what the issue was but fair play to the car, it made it, laid a monumental set of 11's down the high street in Arnage and then stuck in an 8.20 at the 'ring on our slightly detoured way home (not me driving, t'was mr Hollowpockets on here). Great cars some of the time
