Jaguar Number One Manufacturer in UK J.D. Power Survey
Discussion
Jaguar has been announced as the Number One manufacturer in the J.D. Power and Associates/What Car? 2012 UK Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Study (VOSS).
The study was based on the evaluations of nearly 18,000 individuals in the United Kingdom after an average of two years ownership. Every aspect of vehicle ownership was rated from performance, design and comfort to quality, reliability, cost of ownership, economy and dealer service satisfaction. The resulting data allowed the study to be the most comprehensive of its kind.
When split into model line-ups, the Jaguar XF finished second overall, a rise of 15 places within just 12-months.
The 2012 result marks the culmination of a steady rise in owner satisfaction, Jaguar having finished third in the 2011 survey.

The bar chart on the JD Power website shows its a big win, the middle section of the chart show only small point differences between the different manufactures, then at the two end there is a big jump.
Jaguar score 828 to the 801 scored jointly by Skoda and Lexus. You have to drop the next 9 places to Land Rover to get that much difference.

It's an excellent result and a credit to JLR.
It would be interesting to see similar surveys from other Countries. I think there is often an emotive bias to homegrown products. Nevertheless, it's a good job well done.

Usually the way things work over here these days is to think "Its British it must be S*&^" since the 60s the idea of being patriotic has been seen as a bad thing. Its been a few years since I've looked at the JD Power surveys, but I seem to recall that Jaguar used to do well in the US ones.

I have to whole heartedly disagree with that. We will see plenty of patriotism on show in the coming months (jubilee, Olympics, Euros). There are many institutions, industries and other areas in which we regularly display patriotic pride. Patriotism quite rightly does not supersede merit and experience. Our car industry was poorly run and produced comparatively poor products for several years and therefore squandered the patriotic advantage. It took years to run well respected brands and companies into the ground and eventually extinction or foreign ownership. It will equally take years and hard work to rebuild trust and pride.
Blind patriotism is neither good for the consumer or the industry. It will only shore up bad practices, stagnate innovation and produce products which survive on domestic demand based on patriotism but simply can't compete in the rest of the world. Ultimately that only leads to catastrophic failure.
