Euro trip. Fantastic time in a fantastic car
Discussion
Hi guys just got back from a 5/6 day euro trip with the s series lads. This involved some very vigorous driving thru france/belgium to the ardennes region. There was some fantastic twisty roads here, with some stunning scenery as a backdrop.
Mainly s series cars with a sag, another couple of chims and a big valve griff[more on that later]
Next was on to spa for the spa classic race weekend. We had 30 mins track time on the sunday which i initially thought would be pretty quick parade laps[no helmets,t-shirts, roof down etc] but that wasnt the case. after leading us out the pace car went back in and let us get on with it
It was one of the best driving expieriences i have had, and the spa circuit is nothing short of spectacular.
I was behind the big valve griff and me and my chim gave a good account of ourselves. I was stuck up his a
e but could not get past. To be fair he had 18 inch wheels and massive brakes and i nearly ran into the back of him a few times. He could outbrake me every time.
On the sat afternoon we went to the "ring" and boy was it manic. I have never seen such chaos. Anyway once there you have to go round, but it was just to busy and i thought dangerous.......Just too many cars on the circuit at any one time. Didnt really enjoy it but "ive driven it now" but wont be rushing back.
The early evening drive back from the ring to vervier in Belgium started a steady pace, but ended with 26 TVR"S side by side on a 2 lane motorway swopping and changing places at 120 mph+. The sight and sound was awesome.
All in all, 1520 miles in 6 days, inc 1 lap of the "ring", 6 or 7 laps of spa[i lost count it was that good ]
.No cooling problems [other than an air lock on the first day] hardly used any oil, dont know or care about the m.p.g, and we didnt hang around either! Just want to do it all over again
Just a few pics to give you a taster http://www.gbphotosports.com/modules/myphotos/phot...

Sounds great. Spa sounds super circuit.
I will be off to Spa next week to the Summer Classic & passing through the Ardennes, as a change to Le Mans this year. Unfortunately Nurburg will be closed when we go, although this seems like a blessing in diguise from your description.
I hope to get some of your new routes sent over by Ian. It will all be new terittory for me & looking forward to it.

Ask him for the coordinates of our lunch stop in Chimay. The location and the food was 1st class, also the hotel in the ardennes was excellent, and the hotel in Verviers was excellent too and only 20mins or so driving to Spa.Have a good and safe trip, i know you will enjoy it.I will be off to Spa next week to the Summer Classic & passing through the Ardennes, as a change to Le Mans this year.
