Now, not sure what the wife will make of this but we currently have three cars, a 2007 Galaxy, my old 944 Cab and a Fiat 500 of the old vintage, the Fiat is going and we will use the money towards a small car like a Pug 107 for town duties which the Galaxy currently gets used for which really is too big.

So, the Galaxy will be used for occasional duties when there are 5 of us to transport, me, wife and three teenage boys, which isnt often really given they are getting older and more independant, they get the bus to school and one will be at the local college where my wife works, 0.7 miles away, I cycle to work, work from home or use the 944.

So, background there, I need some suggestions and man maths to justify divesting ourselves of the Galaxy, as good as it is I would prefer to buy some barge type vehicle to take its place, potentially relasing a few quid, reckon the galaxy is still work 8/9 grand so plenty to buy a barge with a few quid back for running costs.

So, very little mileage, more cars than journies and the chance to convince her getting rid of the Galaxy is a good idea, but need some credible justification and suggestions for barges that will accomodate us comfortably.

Fiat is a 1967 500F, has had loads of work done and passes MOT's (Solid underneath) but really needs bodywork doing to make it pretty, we have spent £1500 on it and that is with me doing the work, it needs someone who doesnt want to pay the six grand a fully restored one goes for, it has a "500F" specific plate, the engine (original 500cc) was rebuilt last year when it dropped a valve, new tyres all round, new driveshafts, carpet, brakes, no welding needed, new voltage regulator, plugs. leads, dizzy cap, wheel bearings, brake switch, clutch cable, gear linkage, horn, battery, flasher unit, the list is endless. It is good fun but I am not all that into them, this is our second (and last) one, looking for circa 3k

This

leaves £4-5k spare, buy the wife an expensive handbag/pair of shoes/weekend in Paris and you still have £3-4k left over.
