And the two stipulations given are that you MUST buy a car with it and that it can't be a MX-5. On the meagre budget, what would you get and why?

A 700 quid barge and a couple of hookers. Boobs and a car. Marvellous.

Porsche 924s or maybe at a stretch a 944 if I could find a nice one. Dad used to have a 924 and we drove all the way to the Spanish south coast in it. Loved that car and I love the way they look.

A whole three minutes before the hookers were mentioned, people are slipping back in the old days that would have been mentioned in under a minute

Pug 205 or a Golf Mk 2 gti.

Neither of them would be a minter at that budget, but I'd have a lot of fun in them all the same.

Many many perfect E39 540is in there, and almost as many lovely E38 740is! I'd find it hard not to go down that route..

This. Or maybe an MR2.

Assuming an MX5 is out, of course.

306 GTi6.

Although it'd probably cost you that much again within 6 months!

Sensible choice would be a Focus ST170 or a MK4 Golf GTI. Not going to set the world on fire though.
