Why is the polo automatically judged to be dull by people who haven't driven one?
Two of my relatives have bought brand new 1.2 polos and find them brilliant. One replaced her Citroen and the other a previous model polo. Both agree that the steering/pedals and feel of the car is very nice/reassuring although one believes that the engine is a little underpowered but then they had previously owned a car with nearly double the horsepower.
One of my neighbours who is adriving instructor has a DS3, he opted for the citroen purely on cost as the HDI unit is apparently good for 70mpg but with learner drivers it makes 40-50. So far only a couple of trips back to the dealer!! He says the steering is far too light but the steering wheel itself is very nice (squared off bottom type good shape/feel), the pedals are typically French - bit too close together, apparently it suits girls!!!!
The overall interior of the Citroen is surprisingly better I think than the polo, the seats are certainly a bit more hugging/sporty than those in the polo. The citroen also offers a bit more room in the back.

A friend of mine has just repaired a crash damaged DS3, and currently has a brand new Polo also crash damaged awaiting repair. Under the skin of the DS3, you can really see where the savings have been made (cheap springs/dampers, poor wiring, and sub-standard materials), whereas in the Polo, everything is built properly to a much higher standard. I look forward to seeing how they both stand the test of time.
