Not driven either, but I'd go Citroen, just because it has to be more interesting than VAG dullness.

Me too, but I'd drive both before making a decision...

DS3 for me, a lot more interesting than a boring polo.

Drive both. Prefer the exterior design on the DS3 but the interior of the Polo also looks like a nice place to be. VAG dullness is unavoidable though, plus isn't there an equivalent Skoda and Seat for less £££? That would always bug me.

Why is the polo automatically judged to be dull by people who haven't driven one?

Two of my relatives have bought brand new 1.2 polos and find them brilliant. One replaced her Citroen and the other a previous model polo. Both agree that the steering/pedals and feel of the car is very nice/reassuring although one believes that the engine is a little underpowered but then they had previously owned a car with nearly double the horsepower.

One of my neighbours who is adriving instructor has a DS3, he opted for the citroen purely on cost as the HDI unit is apparently good for 70mpg but with learner drivers it makes 40-50. So far only a couple of trips back to the dealer!! He says the steering is far too light but the steering wheel itself is very nice (squared off bottom type good shape/feel), the pedals are typically French - bit too close together, apparently it suits girls!!!!

The overall interior of the Citroen is surprisingly better I think than the polo, the seats are certainly a bit more hugging/sporty than those in the polo. The citroen also offers a bit more room in the back.

DS3 as even though its a Citroen it does quite a good job of coming of as a premium hatchback and looks cool. The Polo is very good, but dull.

the polo gti is pretty decent and cheap to run, the rest are just white goods imo

If you're considering a Polo, also consider a Skoda Fabia.

You could probably get a VRS or a Montecarlo for the price of a really basic Polo too.

I nearly or a Polo for the free insurance, are they still offering that (was worth about £1k to me). They start at about £8k and they're frequently doing 0% finance, so they're not mega money. Although, you could very quickly spec one up to nearer £11k

Just had a Polo as a courtesy car and thought it was great fun. I was really surprised.

Current gen Polo is lovely, have experience as a passenger...however I'd still go with the DS3!

A friend of mine has just repaired a crash damaged DS3, and currently has a brand new Polo also crash damaged awaiting repair. Under the skin of the DS3, you can really see where the savings have been made (cheap springs/dampers, poor wiring, and sub-standard materials), whereas in the Polo, everything is built properly to a much higher standard. I look forward to seeing how they both stand the test of time.

I'd have a DS3 over a Polo but a Polo GTI over a DS3 Racing.

How interesting - I think I'd have it exactly the opposite way round!

DS3.

I hired a polo recently and it was a worthy vehicle. Very very very worthy. It was.

Its worthiness was all I remember about it.
