Classic Impreza Turbo added to the fleet.
Discussion
Just got my first Impreza on Monday, safe to say I'm very happy!
It's a MY99 UK Turbo 2000, 113k on the clocks, and is pretty much standard apart from the exhaust and wheels. I'd been looking for one of these for a while (having wanted an Impreza since i was a kid- Colin Macrae and Gran Turismo saw to that). I hadn't planned to do any tuning, but after only five days I'm beginning to question that already.....
Anyway, I'll let the pics tell the rest.....

Think this'll be 219 bhp at the moment. You'll find a decat 2.5" or 3" exhaust, decent induction kit or panel filter, an uprated fuel pump (about £50 tops) and maybe £250/300 for a proper remap by a specialist or tuner will bring it right up to STI power levels if not more, circa 270 bhp.
You've made a better choice than me, my Impreza is a 1997 which is impossible to remap, requires a complete replacement ECU so any major mods are instantly very expensive!

Thanks for all the positive comments guys!
As far as the tuning goes, I believe it has an uprated STi fuel pump already and the exhaust is a 3inch cat-back. Like I say, I hadn't planned on any mods, but in truth it's quite as quick as I was expecting! So I've already got a mental shopping list
But will definitely be giving the brakes a refresh first! It's had disks and pads fitted recently, but to be honest it feels like the stnadard set-up is barely adequate for the performance.... The 4-pots feel a little under-servoed?......
As for the noise, yeah it's pretty loud but not stupidly so.
Have had one hiccup though- a few times when just having taken a sharp right hand corner, it then bucks a little when coming on boost afterwards? Only for a second and then it clears. Maybe a fuel pick-up issue?

Ah, is that Kinoull car park by any chance? It's a MY99 UK Turbo 2000, 113k on the clocks, and is pretty much standard apart from the exhaust and wheels. Thats a well known Dogging area you know

I'll keep an eye out for the the Scoobie and give you a toot, I'll be driving a white MGF or a gold Merc coupe.
If I'm in the car park I'll flash my interior lights a few times.
So much love for the classic scoob!!!
Wanted one since I was a kid from there rallying success and just the looks of it! First proper buy from grand turismo was always a scooby, lol!
I lusted after a Colin McRae edition R reg last year for sale at £4k though and a terzo I keep seeing about the place!
One day, one day...

You've got to admire the original Impreza, so much ability, so affordable and so unassuming. So preferable to the later cars, went from being plain to plain ugly in my opinion. They also put on a shed load of weight. I'm a serial car modifier so the chip exhaust airfilter route for another 25-30 bhp is hard to resist - they drive really nice with 250-260 bhp as per WRX spec

Lovely looking car, looks a tidy example. Does this have the 4 pot brakes? My dad had a Legacy GT 1992MY UK car and the brakes on that were atrocious..
Yeah, it has the 4 pots, but they aren't that great to be honest! Think some braided hoses and uprated pads are a must before I do any engine mods.themike888 said:

This is the well documented "fuel surge" issue. Put some more fuel in it and you'll fair better.Subaru never got the brakes right on Imprezas. I've driven the original, the bug eyed version and I owned a mk 3 from new and it was the one thing which let a great car down. I know upgrades can be fitted but it beats me why they didn't fit decent brakes as std, what I had on my mk 3 were almost dangerously inadequate.
