Looking for a car that has to meet some tough criteria. Looking for a car that I can use at weekends, run around in, that is fun to drive. It will also be used by lad to learn to drive in and have occasional use when he has passed his test, so has to be a low insurance group. The budget is around £1500.

So far I have a (very) short list;
Citroen C2 GT. Not interested in the flappy paddle VTR.
Peugeot 306 D Turbo
Peugeot 206 XSi
Mazda MX5 had to stick on the list, no idea what the insurance will be on a MkI 1.6 though.

Anything else I should be considering?

As a young lad I'd be interested in the C2 GT most from that list...do him a favour let him chose after all it's only a run around

That was on the list until we saw it was group 21 insurance.

I think the insurance company will decide, the 306 will be the cheapest unless the 206xsi is a 1.4.

Have thought about the Puma, but that's in group 25 for insurance. Even the 1.4 is group 19.

Any other suggestions?

Well spotted! But it does seem to meet all the requirements - bikes are often the answer to so many transport questions but are either discounted for no real reason or just not thought about.

I don't know much about bikes, but I assume that is a 125. Won't you look like a prat on a 125 'sports' bike, in the same way that NA Imprezas covered in 555 stickers look stupid?
