How do you find it OP? I've been thinking about The megane alongside some other turbo hot hatches (focus RS/ST, VXR etc).

Looks great, great car i loved my old one...

The turbo stuff is very nice but tbh i've got a bit bored of them (give up their performance far too easily) and am now back in slower a N/A !!

When the oil runs out I'm confident these will be remembered as the best hot hatches ever made.

Still miss my old r26.r, long term reports start here:

Really started to sway towards these over mk1 focus rs.

What's diff between all the models? Massive price diff between r26 and r26.r?

I'll go google :-(

So weight saving. Worth the price difference?

So tempted :-(

I looked at the Meganes for a long time before finding one I liked enough to purchase, and to be honest never really seriously the others cars in its class (Golf, Focus, Astra etc) as although no doubt excellent cars in their own rights, I just felt the R26 was a little special.

Yes the interior rattles a bit (the Recaro front seats make up for that on their own), and the EGR hose popped off a couple of days after buying it but it's such a good car to drive. Seriously quick, enough to remind me I already have 3 points... But good enough pootling around town when it needs to.

Averaged 33mpg as well over the last month which I almost can't believe!

Edit SirSamuelOfBuca:

I had the same job when I started looking at the Megs as there are so many different models. Off the top of my head there are:
basic 225
225 Cup (Chassis upgrade)
225 Trophy (chassis (I think) and interior upgrade)
225 F1 edition (just a 225 cup with a different paint job and stickers)
230 R26 F1 edition (increase in engine power, upgraded chassis, Recaro front seats as standard, LSD)
230 R26 Lux (as before except with leather interior)
R26.R (Semi slick tyres, most of interior deleted replaced with cage, titanium exhaust, carbon bonnet and bucket seats and other bits, 6 point harnesses)

So true!

I see you're in Bristol, has yours had a timing belt change yet? Mine is due in September so searching for a suitable place to do mine (I'm already caring too much about this car...)!

I bought mine with the 5 year (inc belt) service just done at K-Tec racing. However, I had the window regulator fixed at SJ Cook and Sons and they seemed nice and efficient. I'd probably take it there for the next service. Get a quote and compare it to K-Tec who have their prices on their website, see if it's worth the hassle driving or not. smile

Cheers,
Rob
