I would grateful for some feedback,we are joining a race championship were we are FORCED to fit a video camera for judical reasons,in the championship regs. Not prepared to pay £200-300 for a go-pro hero, this is another example of championship co-ordinator being very good at spending other peoples money. Anyone using cheaper kit,not very interested in picture or sound i cant be arsed to watch them,i treat this request as very low down the list of racing requests.

Flip. Cheap and simple to use. Runs on AA's and no SD card required.

This sort of micro cam http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-DV-Hidden-Video-Cam... can be fitted pretty much anywhere. Quality is a bit suspect, but good enough for seeing which way the track goes.

Also i would not buy memory card with the camera, i would imagine you can get the big mem cards far far cheaper from amazon.

Do the champ regs specify a particular camera or just that you need to have one ?

Dog cams are good, mate of mine sent one to the near limits of space on a weather balloon.

I have a DriftHD and other than the ridiculous name it's a good piece of kit.

I think it was only fiestas that insisted on go/pro because the co-ordinator was selling them!!! The championship we are joining does not specify so bullet fits the bill.

You seriously need to change your mindset before you join this Championship. You are not being "forced", you are "required" to run a video camera. You want to play someone else's game then you need to respect their rules.

If you run a camera that is not fit for the purpose, how long do you think it will be before the Championship Co-ordinator is "forced" to "require" everyone to run a specific camera to ensure a minimum level of quality?

Id be surprised if they dont at the very least specify a format.

can you imagine trying to download and view data from 30 cars each with a different camera, storage card, the video in different formats and different codecs.. it would be a nightmare!!

Thats generally the reason organisers specify a particular model or format. so they only have to worry about and they can quickly and easily get at the video. IF everyone has a different camera, it may be that they end up needing to employ someone to look after it putting the fees up even further !!

At the end of the day a series running mandatory cameras to help police driving standards will generally save you money in body panels :-)

I dont need to change my mindset, ive been around amateur motor racing for 40 years,i know the difference between advice and an opinion,i asked for advice and i got a very good one. You can have an opinion from me i,the bullet/dogcam seems to fit the championship format 100%.Thank you guys who gave me the good advice.
