Hi Peeps

So I just took delivery of my Tuscan single donor MK Indy, and took advantage of what little sunshine was left to take it for a spin. Immediate thoughts include a *very* sloppy gearchange. 2 & 4 were findable, but 1,3 & 5 were a guessing game with hunting & very gentle release of the clutch to check which had actually been engaged.

The Indy was a 2003 23k miles single donor Tuscan from which the engine, gearbox & diff were transplanted (amongst other things).

What are the likely causes/fixes for this? Is it a common Tuscan/speedsix issue?

TIA, Rich

If the Tuscan uses a similar gear linkage to the chim and grief T5 boxes, there are 2 nylon bushes and 4 nylon thrust washers.

If these are worn, you will have a sloppy change.

If it's that bad, sounds like it could be a box problem. 23K isn't enough to generate linkage problems imho.

That's on ebay at the moment for about £500, as is another but was there a reason to post just the picture?

Probably to let me know there isn't a linkage teacher.

There is no gearchange linkage on a Tuscan. The gearstick is a direct extension of the gearbox selector stub itself. If you've got a sloppy change it could be the grub screw that secures the gearstick onto the selector stub being loose. If not then it sounds like a knackered gearbox.

^^^ That's a good shout. (In my ignorance, I would have immediately said nannied 'box).
If you look at the picture of the box above, the grubscrew faces to the rear on the turned alloy 'bit' that the gear lever sits in. 6mm allen screw...with loctite!!

Spoke with the previous owner and found at that the gearstick has been relocated with the help of an extender setup to bring it closer to the driver, and this is probably the cause of the problem.

I'm now looking for a decent kit car shop in the Ashford, Kent area. GKD are Maidstone so they are an obvious possibility. Can anyone recommend any others? Cheers
