I have just been looking at my old insurance polices and I've noticed that I have never payed over £400.00 for my insurance in my 37 years of driving.

I feel like a nurnt.

Yes but £400 in 1975 would be more than £1,000 today

Edit - Yeah, so £400 in 1975 is equivalent to £3284 today apparently...

14 years driving, don't remember ever paying over £600, maybe £650.

My first policy, at 17, on a Fiat Uno 1.1, was £343. Some 17 year olds now are paying that a month! yikes

My most memorable quote was £22,000 for a Mk1 MR2 worth £3,000 when I was 19. Insured it for about £4-500 in the end.

Wow... the petrol head inside me wishes I'd been born 15 years earlier...

Looking at it another way, I've only once paid more for a year's insurance than I actually paid for the car.

In two years, I've spent nearly 4 times the amount the car cost.
