I've heard tell that chocolate and peanut butter are the best baits, any other suggestions?

Also, any suggestions for the best type of trap in terms of success - I'm not fussed about humane or not, just their effectiveness (I know about placing them along the walls and other obvious runs - I've seen the blighter hugging one particular wall).

An option. Although a 9mm would probably be easier to get a licence for and less likely to lose my deposit through firearm-related damage.

Might annoy the neighbours though.

As fun as it might be to indulge in some target practice, I can't really be arsed sitting perched on my sofa waiting for Mr Twitchy Whiskers to peer out from behind the fridge.

In that case it sounds like you need to carry out the mars bar and razor blade ploy.

That'll sort out the twitchy whiskers, granted, but I think the ultimate objection here is to make orphans of his many children.

Get a load of Sticky Traps and leave them against the walls in the problem room.

Cat? Pop down to the local RSPCA and pick up the biggest, meanest looking moggy they have.

No pets allowed. Besides, it's a city flat, so even if I could get a cat, I'd have to get one from a kitten so it didn't miss the outdoors.

Sticky traps sound like a plan.

I just cleared out a few mice from our attic. Not sure if they sell them over there, but I got these discs about 12" across covered in sticky glue. You can also buy the glue separately.

Not humane at all but very effective. Once one gets caught and starts squeaking others come over, and they get stuck in the gloop as well!

Don't use sticky traps

They are unfeasible cruel and down right evil form of pest control

No doubt i will get labelled as some form of tree hugger but just don't use sticky traps.

Use snap type traps with chocolate raisins on the little spike

Just buy an ordinary, traditional snap type trap - 100% humane and effective. They usually work just as well unbaited if left against a wall (mousey doesnt like to go around it, goes over the top and 'snap'!). If you want to bait then cheese or chocolate works just fine.

There is no way i would use a sticky trap - very cruel - and I say that as a shooter and killer of many things fur & feather.

I left a stern note.

He ate half of it and shat on the remainder.

I took that to imply disagreement.
