Well, it's been a fun 5 and a bit years, but it was time to move on. Took the '5 in for some welding, mentioned I was thinking of selling, and he made me an offer. A bit under what I was hoping for, but it needed £300 of welding and an MOT/service as well. At least this way I don't have to deal with time wasters and tyre kickers, and there are a lot of MX-5s in the classifieds - reckon you need to price pretty aggressively to sell at the mo. Then there's the extra on insuring it alongside its replacement while selling (hopefully the replacement is in the bag!).

Mixed feelings, it had to go and there were things I would have done had I kept it (suspension especially), have some great memories (especially an epic driving holiday in Yorkshire a couple of years ago). Who knows, maybe I will be back. Saw a couple of really nice forced induction 5s in the classifieds which I think would be first choice were I looking again...

TTFN.

I am the same, sold my 10AE at 3am this morning after owning it for just over a year. Very sad to see it go - first car and some fantastic memories with it. Needed to sell so I can buy a house, so carless for the next few years probably. Think I will be very tempted to get another one when I can.

Is that the modern equivalent of the Viking Longship Burial?

OK, picked up the replacement today, and it's a TVR S2!

That was the easy bit. Difficult bit comes tomorrow when I drop the '5 off with its new owner frown

Damn, I was close though!

Well done, I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on the S2 versus the '5 ears

Cheers guys!

Initial thoughts are: MX-5 is to TVR S as scalpel is to meat cleaver laugh

Definitely more of a sense of occasion to the S2, but I imagine there will be many sunny days where I would have taken the '5 but I will leave the S2 at home. Whether that's down to the car itself or how much money I have tied up in it I don't know. TVR feels heavier and less nimble, but that may just be the controls and the car might be just as nimble when thrown around a bit.

Really can't say too much though, weather & traffic were so bad on the way back I didn't get much of a feel for it.
