Sadly I have just read that Roy Salvadori passed away today aged 90. Salvadori partnered Carroll Shelby to win the 1959 Le Mans in an Aston Martin DBR1. Ted Cutting who designed that iconic car also recently passed away.
Absolutely right Jockman. To have lived a life that special and make it to 90 - fantastic. His 1959 win at Le Mans is celebrated in this picture in our study:
Lovely Man....Privileged to have had lunch with him in his home town a few years back. Tales of a time gone by when when racing cars was fun and all about the camaraderie.
He still looked pretty cool when i got his autograph at the Coys classic some years ago, and he was still driving like a man possessed. A true gentleman driver with real class.
