THE ANNUS HORRIBILIS CONTINUES We all really enjoyed our first gig with new bass player Ceri Monger. Unfortunately, our van, parked in the Holiday Inn Express carpark, was broken into over night and most of the band's guitars and small items were stolen. These include all Marshalls Gibson Les Pauls and Justin's two Lowdens that had previously survived the fire(!). We are putting together enough equipment together for the show tonight in manchester, Strummercamp and are currently dealing with police and our unfortunate insurance company. We will be releasing all the serial numbers of the stolen items shortly and would be very grateful for any help in retrieving them.New Model Army
Please keep your eyes and ears open in the hope that the stolen gear can be found. Will post up the serial numbers and further details as soon as they are released.

The previous poster suggests the was likely to happen. Sadly, whilst I think the realty of thefts from vans is considerable, it should not be. Society is at fault not the owner.
I do hope the van was insured and the instruments were insured. And I hope they are recovered.

Must be horrible losing such persnal items such as musical instruments but come on in 2012 who could be so dumb to leave such items in a van overnight on a hotel car park.
Sometimes there is no choice. When on the road doing events and gigs around the country. We always try and rig before going to a hotel, leaving the kit slightly more secure at a venue. However this is not always possible. In those cases we have been known to unload significant amounts of kit from vans into hotel rooms!
Fortunately, we have never lost any kit from vans in car parks, but I did have an empty van turned over in the Holiday Inn car park at Brent Cross. Van had armour plate over the locks, but it didn't stop someone trying, causing upwards of £2.5k damage in the process. We never knew if they actually got any of the doors open, but I actually hope they did.... All they would have found was a couple of rachet straps and a few riggers tee shirts in need of a wash!
Hotel CCTV was no help, as despite parking the van in direct sight of a camera, when asked by plod for the footage, they were told "that camera doesn't work"
Agree that one shouldn't be in a situation when parking a van in a hotel car park, the expectation is that someone will have a pop at it.
A list of the items stolen, please keep your eyes peeled, it would be nice to see this kit returned to the band. Cheers for looking.
