Hi All,

well I have had my 996.2 GT3 since Wednesday so I thought I would post my first impressions. The car is a comfort spec with PCCB in Atlas Grey.

Firstly, it is so different from my 997.1 C2S. This is obvious from start up with a much more mechanical sound from the GT3 on tick over. The clutch feels slightly heavier but precise when setting off. I find it no problem just pottering around Bournemouth, i.e. quiet in the cabin, comfortable and easy to drive. (Cruise control helps this too)

Obviously the fun starts when you get on a half decent road. The engine is incredible in every sense. I find the sound and linear acceleration addictive. Then theres the handling....... the turn in is instant, almost as if the car picks out the right line ....... the whole package is just amazing.

My only niggles are during low speed manoeuvring. I can feel a little clutch judder when reversing up my drive (slight upwards gradient), also a small judder (?) nearing full lock (LSD?) and at full lock maybe the front tyres touching the wheel arch liner. Im thinking these issue are normal?

I have also been doing at bit of cleaning too!!

All in all I am blown away by this stunning car.

Thanks for reading.

Hi, they are both Beetles really wink
My GT3 996.2 is a clubsport and my first 911, I can only compare with Boxster S and Cayman S but I can say that this car makes me smile on a smooth road. I can also feel and hear the diff working on lock and a slight judder can occur if you don't load on some revs when reversing especially up a slope.
I hope you continue to enjoy the car even more when you get it out on some really fast bends, I have just driven the Isle of Man mountain run just prior to the start of the TT, wow what a car such grip and turn in, its planted and the sound is to die for... nuts
Can you post some pics up please

Looks superb, well done.

What a noise as you approach the redline from inside the cabin.

Enjoy.

Beautiful car - the issue you have from memory is called the Ackers effect or something. In essence the tyre is being dragged over the surface on full lock and hence 'skipping'.

My 996 which has the M030 suspension is the only car that has ever done this - my previous 996 on standard suspension was fine.

I have all three of these features in my car too, so either we share a problem or it's normal. The latter I think -gallardo used to do similar to do with the 4wd hardware-jzm have just had mine in for work and geo and the only issue that needed fixing was one horn not working.

Certainly no problems when zooming around!

I prefer the Atlas too.\

I especially like the way it looks black in some light and blue in bright sun light.

Pity it pi##ing it down today, well at least I can get on with the decorating............
