I would like to treat a couple of mates to a day out and have been looking at various supercar experience days. Ideally I would like a full day rather than a quick couple of hours and it's all over. Been looking at the Ferrari Plus experience at Thruxton and maybe add on some Karting, its very close to where I live so would work well with going out for a meal and a few beers after as well as staying over.
Does anyone have any experience with this or could recommend an alternative? Will be 3 of us in total.

If it HAS to be supercars, then I've got no idea.

However, if you want absolutely the best driving day ever, then Palmersports nr Bedford is totally awesome.

Never been on a supercar driving experience, but from what I've heard they're somewhat lacking, 2 or 3 laps, no full throttle and no red line. Palmersport is completely full on - the instructors push you as much as you want to be pushed. It's not cheap, but it's the best value for money.

Thruxton has my vote. Did the Lamborghini Gallardo Plus experience there. Absolutely amazing. Drove a cayman, the Lamborghini and a single seated formula Renault type car. And unlike some places that limit how fast you go, I managed to get some good speed out of each of the cars biggrin (just over 130mph in the Lambo).

-1 for Thruxton from me. I'd sacrifice the car/track and book one with better instructors.

Did a day with 6th gear a couple of years back.

Although they fufulled thier obligations, I wouldn't go again and wouldn't recommend it.
It was very much a conveyor belt experience and a very short period in the car.

Prior to the event, booking it was particulally difficut. Unable to get a day for literally months, and after that wait the car i'd booked wasn't available so I had to pay extra to 'upgrade' to the next car.

Going on one next week through buyagift.com. You get to drive a 911 turbo, Lambo Gallardo, Audi R8, some Aston martin and ferrari 355 for a minimum two laps. Have two tracks one in Loughborough and one in Long Marston Warwickshire. Obviously cant say if its any good because I havent been yet but people have uploaded incar vids on youtube to give you an idea.

I did one via experience limits.com was £120 on groupon. They do various sites, I Did it at Swansea airport, 3 laps in each car, good
Selection to choose from, I chose, a gallardo, 911 turbo and a Ferrari f430. It was short and sweet but well worth the dosh, the instructors let you go full throttle, even though the straight is only a few hundred meters long before a chicane, I think i hit the rev limiter in 2nd in the 911, massive turbo surge, hit nearly 9000rpm in 2nd gear in the f430 (spider!) which was totally spine tingling sound, i was gigling like a school girl! amazing!

Really??

I went on the Aston Martin one and I got to say I thought it was poor. Not enough track time, a very dis-interested instructor and the feeling that I was number to be pushed through a system. When I was in the reception building and there whole families who by their accents had come quite a long way to see "Dad drive on the Grand Prix track".
Luckily I had won my experience from work so wasn't paying but if I had come all the way down from Sunderland for that, I wouldn't have been very impressed. Obviously I'm not expecting to be treated like Lewis Hamilton but I also wasn't expecting it to be so souless (for want of a better word.)
