I think i should really try something. Half the time when i smoke its because it gives me something to do.
For eg i really hate my job get fed up and go for a smoke, at home nothing on tv go for a smoke etc etc. I dont remember the last time i had a smoke because i actually needed one + its now costing a silly ammount of cash. Obv i must be addicted as ive been smoking for probably 20 years.
Just out of interest what side affects have you fellas had when quiting and what method did you try ? I seem to remember my Mum had a right temper on her when she quit. Maybe that was me being a naughty boy or something lol
Did you go to the docs to get advice or anything or just crack on with it ?

OH gave up 6 months ago after smoking since he was 15. Went cold turkey and he says he feels great.
Did the same myself 14 months ago.20 a day for over 20 years, and then just stopped. It helped I did it the same time as I started a new job, so a change of routine was a massive postive help.
And to be honest I have had a couple when I have been out on the beer, but have also been out on the beer and have happily not had any.
I do miss it, not the craving, just the act itself as I always enjoyed smoking.
But with 2x daughters now, simple choice......
Good luck to all giving (have given) up.
Just rolled over 12 days cigarette free here.
Using the nicorette inhalator. Get the odd pang which seems to hit me like a train but they are getting few and far between. Just the act of smoking itself I miss, like sitting in the garden having a smoke etc.
A lot better off financially as myself and the missus have both packed it in.
She has a lot shorter fuse than I do at the minute.
Stay strong everyone!

Having tried the various incarnations of the next best NRT, and failing miserably with all of them, I'm firmly on the cold turkey camp, reinforced by the Carr book; The Easy Way To Give Up Smoking.
After 20+ a day for 30+ years it was a cinch.
Just my tuppence.
And this worked for me also after 30 odd years smoking 20 a day and trying all the other methods I was desperate to give up. A friend bought me Allan Carrs easiway book for a birthday present... you carry on smoking until you complete the book.... and I couldn't wait till I finished so I could stop smoking. The day I finished I went to the pub to challenge myself and couldn't believe how I was not bothered about smoking (that was in the days you could smoke in a pub). That was getting on for ten years ago now and I have never looked back and never wanted another cigarette, so keep on its so worth it, especially at the price they are now! After 20+ a day for 30+ years it was a cinch.
Just my tuppence.
