t I thought with perhaps the exception of Ed Sheeran (not my taste but at least he's got talent). Not sure why we insist on wheeling out the same old when this country has so much more to offer musically.

But from the excerpts I caught it was a truly dreadful affair.
Mrs Beano commented that there was some "nice opera" so I made the effort to search out these few expected nuggets.
There was an american singer, Renee Fleming, who provided a very fair rendition of "One Fine Day" despite an average orchestra. Apart from that there was an "average" duet with Alfie Whatsisname (but his rendition of Neapolitan folk songs started poorly and then fell off a cliff when he merged to an Elvis impression - truly, truly dreadful) and I then discovered Lang, Lang which was too short but brilliant.
Some shocking drivel penned by Andrew Lloyd-UpyourRRRs that would have been nice at a village fete.
Apart from that, I didn't know so many of the performers couldn't sing: Jones, McCartney, Reggie Dwight....And what's with "Live and Let DIe" - what were they trying to tell the Queen?????
Some semblance of taste with Stevie Wonder and Madness (with a clever display), to be fair.
But overall..... shocking!!!!!
