Since I stated looking there are quite a few on the market now near to me in my price range so a couple of questions please.
I am keen on a car with engine rebuild and the contenders are:
TVR Power
Henley TVR
Str8six
I have visited Str8six and formed my own positive opinion, what are the views on re builds by the other two.
Second question, what oil pressure should I see at start up and at the end of the passenger ride?

I'm pretty sure Henley TVR was where Jason Clegg worked before he started Str8six. If so then the engine rebuild should be good but it would have been done ages ago so would have no warranty left on it.I am keen on a car with engine rebuild and the contenders are:

Ok getting nearer I think it is 2 maybe 3 cars in the race so far.
Next question is oil consumption, what realistically does an engine burn, one owner has suggested 4litres in 5000 miles, does this sound right?
I have to say as a V8 owner before it burnt nil oil in 3000 miles.
Does the Sp6 like a drop of oil?

That idle speed is a touch low imo. Oil pressure sounds a touch low too, but of course that is related to idle speed. I always liked to see double figures in PSI.
The car maybe running oil that's a bit too thin. TVR power recommend a 10w 40 semi synth, some people used 0w15 which may be too thin and could cause the symptons you refer too (several threads debate this).
If you are close to Coventry, get Power to look the car over.

My car will see 7-8 psi at 700 rpm when at 90 deg plus. It's been like this from day one after power rebuild, Jason at power said its fine and the sensors aren't 100% as soon as I touch throttle its well up and iirc is around mid 40's on throttle (any)

Engines are solid with power or str86 rebuild IMO.
That doesn't mean a thousand other things don't need doing though- clutch, bushes and random bits like fuel lines suspension,etc etc. lots seems to go downhill, albeit nowhere near as costly as a rebuild.
It's all worth it though when it's all good- awesome cars

Ditto this - Dom's comment to me when I asked was that provided the pressure rises as soon as you use the throttle, don't worry about the idle pressure too much as the sensor isn't that accurate.Mine burns no oil at all (has only done about 4k or so after power rebuild)
No oil used on a rebuilt engine after 5000 miles. The reason for the rebuild was valve guides (2000 model with 20k miles) which caused it to burn oil, so watch that one.
1l per thousand miles used to be the norm on a high performance engine, anything more than that and it is going somewhere normally out of the exhausts. From the factory they do drink a little IMHO but nothing to worry about.

Having just purchased my 3rd TVR(Chim Wedge & Tuscan in that order) i think it is down to your own gut feeling yes an engine rebuild is a good purchasing point with the Tuscan but not all earlier cars suffer major engine faliure some earlier cars will have had minor tweaks some had full rebuilds by TVR and Independent engine specialists since their demise. All owners take a different stance when buying cars mine is condition apperance trim and chassis condition and frequent use dont be put off by higher mileage as this has seen a lot of road not garage floor not that its be cosseted never seen rain this 1 mate because to bring back to what i like from a car will cost a lot more than an engine rebuild from most Tuscans that i viewed before purchasing mine,yes you will need a budget as with all TVR's use it and enjoy it but should it break get it fixed.Just my views as we all have a different perception but if you feel its right for you dont be put off by others.
