Does anyone else get this response when they tell people where they're going in a couple of weeks time? Last year I even got a "where did you finish?" when i got home!!!

I appreciate not everyone is into motor racing, but even so it never ceases to astound me.

Reading the 'stickered up' thread you can only conclude that every 1 out of 2 PH-ers lives next to complete ignorants smile

I've had this too. I really don't understand the thought process; if you said you were going to the Monaco GP, nobody would think you were racing in it.

I get it all the time. Especially as I race as well. I just keep telling them that Le Mans is the dream!

All the time, especially with a stickered up car, I usually back up the 'I'm going to Le Mans . . .' comment with 'I'm not driving though"

It's staggering how many folk think Le Mans is some sort of trackday.

I burst out laughing in my gaffer's face when he asked how much race entry was.

Another guy said I was stupid for driving a car to France for a race when there are loads of circuits open at weekends in England.

I had this today, so I just said straight faced - "Yes, I've just got to put an Union Jack sticker on the roof of the Rover 400 and I'm good to go" turned round then carried with my work.

So I've now had the 'experience' now too ...

At first the hysterical neighnour asked "have you just been to the sticker factory" ... after biting my tongue and politely saying "No, going to LeMans" I got the infamous .... "are you racing in it".

hm, yeah .....
