KMC Chain Removal

Anyone got any tips for opening the master link on a KMC chain?

I've heard that it's possible to do it without any tools but i've got no where doing this. I've got some normal (as opposed to needle nosed) pliars but not sure if they'd be much use as they can't fit onto the rollers. I've searched the internet and youtube for guides, but haven't found anything useful yet.

I thought these master/power links were supposed to make chain removal easier!

The kmc chains are just quick links right? Just push them together and it should release...

Not sure how relevant this is but the 10 speed powerlinks are one use so maybe they aren't intended for re-use?

Hey,

I used a pair of needle nosed pilers to remove my chain, worked okay but was a little tricky.

I bought the official tool http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?Mod..., works a treat!

Works for all chains that use a missing link and is cheap than the Park tools one

It is a 10 speed, but doesn't it defeat the point if it's single use? If that is the case i think i'll try to clean it without taking it off!

KMC Missing Links are reusable. As others have said push together while squeezing to release but you may need Master Link pliers if they are stiff
