Are these any good?

if I go ahead and buy a diseasel Rover, the prospect of 10ppl diesel is a rather enticing one. I note that this kit costs 300 quid, but there are some costing 700 like this:

are they twice as good to justify costing twice as much?

I imagine one wouldnt have to do too many miles to make the money back on it. Also, what would the legality be on selling some of the diesel as long as total production remains under the 2500l/year mark?

Selling the stuff is out of the question. You are liable for all sorts of problems. Friends and family might be alright, depending on who knew, but general advertising would alert the relevant people.

Making it is cheap, provided you have the time and a good supply of oil. Most business' now have to have a waste management certificate for their waste oil, so send it to a major processors. Smaller shops might not worry so much, but they have enough people asking for it that you would be lucky to get it for free.

Twas great 5 or 6 years ago, but everyone has jumped on the bandwagon.

yeah I was thinking the odd fill up for friends and family who just happen to run low on the way to my house, not commercially selling the stuff!!

What about "black diesel" processors? these seem to make it from waste engine oil instead of which there would be a good supply

Would you be interested in a timeshare property in Spain...?

I could also get hold of some "magic beans" if you want them. For a price, of course...

I'm failing to see the problem here.... these biodiesel plants were all over the news when the govt introduced the free 2500L allowance?

Are you actually simple? Even if it works in theory the article for sale is clearly a green barrel with a water pump crudely attached to it with a length of garden hose. For nearly £400!

With those you also need to do some quite serious investigations into the fuel system on your car.

Biodiesel trashes seals, injectors, pumps, lines, filters etc, so you may have to convert the engine before its suitable to run it without failure.
