Looks like he just didn't sense it in time - or that he actually lifted the throttle when the rear started moving rather than planting it.

These videos annoy me.

Sure, everyone has the right to visit the 'ring or any other track, but clips such as this serve to highlight the standard of driver you may be sharing the tarmac with.

Following this viewing, I was compelled to watch an Elise being piloted around the 'ring by someone who thought he was on the M4. One hand at 12o'clock, other hand on the gearstick (or lazily placed on his lap at one point) between 'changes and little concept of a racing line, or at least an attempt at planning his approach to a corner or series of, before they arrive.

Inevitably, he hit the Armco.

I am no driving god, but I sometimes wish there was a motorcycle-style CBT to be competently assessed and passed before folk are let loose on track in/on any form of vehicle.

A junior track license, if you will...

What was that light on the Elise speedo that flashed on a couple of times, was he getting oil surge on corners?? (at 2.58 and again around 3.30)

I reckon so. Terrible 'ring driving there, including overtaking on the wrong side (after the foxhole) then just overcooked it on the brakes and understeered into the barrier.

Also, I don't understand why some people's track driving style involves always having their hands low down on the wheel (when both hands are on it) - including shuffling their hands around to ensure they stay low. Do they think it looks cool? Especially in something like an Elise, surely just fixing your hands at quarter to three is the way forward?
