an end to oil leaks!
Discussion
it`s the last leak as far as i can tell, power steering......
One of the low pressure rubber pipes off the bottom of the reservoir is perished and leaking at the hose clamp......I think its a bit different on the sx but the basicly the same I beleve its off a Toyota supra????? any way, i want to get all the old oil out and replace it and fix offending pipe, if i undo the clamp and dump the oil from the reservoir is it ok to start and run the car to pump all the old oil out of the rack, put it all back together and then refill it??? or is there a tried and tested method???

I have discovered a leak too though I believe mine has blown a seal within the rack itself. To answer your question you can pump out the old fluid into a container with the engine running but you need to make sure the resovoir is topped up otherwise the drive pump bearing will get v/hot and sieze. It's a 2 man job - one to top up - the other to guide the old fluid safely into a container IMO.
Hi Mate...Dont run the pump dry as it can cause damage..
