Hmmm.... Are you sure? The 1973 Triumph Dolomite sprint had 16 valves (albeit with a single camshaft), and any number of Alfas and Fiats had twin cams long before the BX rolled of the production line in 1982.

I always thought the Dolly Sprint was first regular production car with 16 valves.

Fiats, Lancias and Alfas were available with twin cams for a couple of decades before the BX appeared.

Do you mean more than 2v per cylinder? As any V8 will be 16v minimum.

...and as he only said European car, not mass produced then you can include bentley from the 1920ws with their 4 valve head.

The VW Golf GTI 16S was sold through main dealers in France and Switzerland with a 1.6 litre 16 valve Oettinger engine (S for soupapes which is French for valves) and that was in 1981.

First car with four wheel drive? That'd be the 1903 Spyker 60HP.

BMW 850 was apparently the first car with a 6 speed manual and V12 combo.
