Just back from honeymoon and the wife tried to get in her car and head off to work, yellow engine warning light came on and the car won't idle.

Had Greenflag out to look at it and the chap is '95%' certain it's the head gasket between cylinders 1 and 2.

Is this a common fault with R56 Cooper S cars?

any ideas on indicative cost to fix if the head needs skimming/replacing?

Should also mention the car has been leaking coolant which we've been topping up regularly.

I've spoken to (car has been looked after by them previously) and have it booked in for the 25th June (earliest they could do as their maxed out prepping race cars) however I really could do with getting it sorted ASAP (it's the wifes daily runner).

The only Mini specialist I've found close to Leicester is AutoTechniq in Lutterworth so I'll call them tomorrow morning.

Sods law this would happen just after the wedding/honeymoon! :-)
