2.5T aircon belt failure
Discussion
Started the car to a nasty belt noise last night - plus smoke and a nasty smell.
The short auxiliary belt snapped very soon after.
A bit of internet searching showed that the short belt only seems to drive the aircon pump off a double pulley on the PAS pump.
Can anyone confirm this? I just want to be sure it doesn't do anything more important than that as well.
Haven't had a chance to look at the offending pump but assume it has seized... anyone got any experience of these? do they go just like that?

I thought the belt also did the alternator? For the compressor to seize, you would have to have the compressor on , so the solenoid clutch engages, unless that has seized too. Maybe an alternator ( reknown failure of bearings) or an idler which has locked up. Either way, sadly its a strip out and inspect to find the fault .

A/c pump has seized solid may just be the clutch, not sure.Gassing Station | Ford | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
