Oops! Nearly crashed the MG

Dont quite know what happened but the back went round turning into Tower at Combe about 3mins 30secs in.

Wonderful sound by the way. Is that what ten tenths looks like in a V8 sportscar? Genuine question, it's worlds apart from my Caterham and I want to know how hard you were trying!

I think you are right, looks like I downshifted quite a bit later than the previous lap. It was my last session of a very hot day and I had a passenger on board which always seems to unsettle the car slightly.
As for ten tenths I like to explore our limits.

You've just solved the questions of how I nearly managed to catch you up even though you had flown past me on the previous lap (I'm the white 964) and where had all the grass on the apex of Tower suddenly appeared from?

Great day wasn't it, especially when we went open pit lane for the last hour or so.

Thanks for posting as i enjoyed that, thats one quick MG! scary how you ended up heading for the only obstacle there, amazing how cars turn into obstacle magnets the minute they leave the road or track! If there's a fence post or street lamp i'm guaranteed to hit it!

Lovely car.

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing/hearing it at Castle Coombe earlier in the year. I knew it was a V8 but having seen the youtube video and the notes listing the engine specification it is no longer a mystery as to why it was shifting along the straight following Quarry at some pace!!

It was particularly abrupt though! How were your tyres holding up? I'm guessing you don't get a lot of life out of a set of r888s with that sort of power?

Tyres were about half worn R888's. I Have been trying to combat oversteer issues for a long time. Improvements include lowering height of panhard rod and fitting stiffer front springs. I now need to experiment with damper settings,

I think you're right about the late downshift, all that torque and unmatched revs, in the turn too, was just too much for the rear wheels. That's how I see it. Looked like a fairly relaxed drift more than a spin though
