Goldtrack @ Spa this week?
Discussion
As I umm and ahh about replacing my Exige with a Cayman/Boxster, I thought it'd be interesting to see how well the smaller Porsches go round Spa when I was there on Monday.
Now as usual, it was full of 911GT3s... but there wasn't a Cayman, or a Boxster to be seen! Not a single one.
So why would that be guys?

There are a few people that track them, but they are always a minority and it is unusual to see more than 1 or 2 at a track day unless there is a group from one of the Boxster forums organising it in my experience. Case in point - the BookaTrack Porsche day on 7th July currently lists 3 Caymans and only one Boxster (with a second Boxster on the reserve list) on the attendees list. The lack of a dry sump engine is one reason occasionally given and while there are modifications to sort that out (I believe that there is even a standard kit for the Boxster racing series) that would be a measure for people without warranties prepared to put some money into the car. Thus far, people prepared to do that seem to mostly have bought 911s, but I wouldn't be surprised if the availability of cheap 3.2 986s didn't start to get noticed??

Have a chat with the team at RPM Technik near Tring. They have a Boxster track car, and kits to convert Boxters for the track. Now as usual, it was full of 911GT3s... but there wasn't a Cayman, or a Boxster to be seen! Not a single one.
