Well I think I've mastered the basics... much of the quality has gone in compression, more than usual it seems, and reds seem vulnerable to breaking up, as you can see. But the original 2.5Mb versions are nice!

Very nice..... I do like the Jaguar one (2nd pic) Don't know what it is exactly, but I think it is a great pic!

Very nice, what f-stop are you using for the 5th one down (Fezza badge)? DOF looks ridiculously shallow (jealous, lowest lense I have is f3.5).

Thanks Steve. You'll be appalled to know that the shot (having checked EXIF info) was taken at f5
However the secret is that it was taken at 200mm focal length. My 70-300 D ED lens 'becomes' a 105-450 on the D70 and simply destroys DOF - though you have to watch for camera shake.
In the case above I used AP to crank the aperture as large as possible.
One nice thing I found is that as you switch from AP to SP etc, it remembers the last setting you used, not just starting from wherever it was on P.

Thanks Steve, we struggle in your wake! Pity the reds went funny, but if I can get my head round Ed's advice I'm sure I can fix it.
