Just had an HPI check run on a car I'm looking at and it's come back as a potential import. It seems to be a Uk spec RHD 07 plate car. Is this something I should worry about?

It's a private sale, though the seller has had the 140 point check done at a main dealer and is going to put an AM warranty on it. He says he purchased it from a main dealer.

Irish cars are worth less because their history can be fudged.....check with the dealer who was the orginal supplying dealer......get some advise from the trade

It's not necessarily a problem. I bought my first V8V in 2006 from the AM dealer in Berlin. Full UK spec but £10k cheaper due to the exchange rate at the time, I was also working out there. I sold it 8 months later to AM Cambridge after registering it in the UK for £2k less than I paid for it. It was a superb car gently run in with 5k miles on the clock and absolutely no problems with it.

Sometimes HPI get it wrong. It was the case when I bought mine. I had them look into it and they corrected their database when they discovered the error.

The original supplying dealer was Charles Hurst Aston Martin in Belfast. It came back over here in 2008, and was sold to the current owner by a local AM dealer 18 months ago, who confirms it's history. So although HPI is showing it up as a potential import I feel that not strictly the case and it doesn't appear to be a ringer.

If you can see an ubroken record of the car via the dealer network and it has an AM extended warranty then it sounds OK. If there are services missing or each of the dealers cannot confirm that they saw the car each year for the service then further consideration may be more prudent.

I assume this is somewhat of a bargain for you to be considering it as there are plenty of cars available in the UK that are UK registered from new.

I have traced its history back, and spoken to the AM dealer who sold it to the current owner. It's got a full AM service history and is being provided with a new AM warranty.
After looking around for a few months now I think I got a bargain. I'm paying £45k for it with the warranty and 6 mnths tax. It's a 2007 model year with 20500 miles on it, tungsten with obsidian leather with red stitching. Immaculate paintwork and the chap is a clean freak (like me). Should get it in a week or so once he's got his personal plate off of it.

Looking forward to seeing the pictures. smile
Don’t think it’ll matter if you haven’t managed to keep the garage clear, I doubt it’ll spend much time in there. driving
