Just heading home from holidays and noticed the outside air temp gauge rising consistently. First noticed at 35 degrees and watched it rise to 47 over about 30 miles. Just stopped at services, no other warnings, lifted bonnet, seems fine, no signs of engine overheating, didn't seem hot. Could be (hopefully) a dodgy sensor but worried its more than that, especially with 170 miles to go!

Sounds like the sensor. Mine will initially read very high in the sun, then slowly come down. Not had it go up though! The outside temperature is not linked to engine temperature etc, its just a sensor. Its linked to the air con and used to determine how cold etc it needs to blow on startup to cool the interior

Can I just say bananarob that your car is stunning? Would be great to see an ownership write up at some point as I'm contemplating getting a DBS myself. In the meantime, annoying sensors aside, enjoy it my friend!!

It's a known issue, been mentioned a few times on here. Happened on mine, replaced under warranty. Enjoy the rest of the journey!

Thanks for all the responses, having checked coolant levels and jumped back in the car, the sensor had come down to 27 but immediately went steadily back up to eventually 79. I spoke to Broughtons around 9 and they put my mind at rest. I was fairly sure it was a faulty sensor but the way it had come back down again and then started rising once more worried me there was something close to it getting hot. That said engine temp was fine and no warnings gave me some confidence. I couldn't find much on the net either.

Thanks for the car comments Slarti and Jockman, I was just returning home from a week driving some fantastic NW Scottish roads although just got back to my first speeding ticket in 15 years (I can't really complain at that)... I'll stick some pics on a separate post in the next few days but the car over 1200 miles was superb, didn't put a foot wrong. Slarti, I'll put together some ownership thoughts with the pics but seriously, moving from the vantage 4.7 to the DBS was one of the best car swaps I've ever done, I've never regretted it!

Rob I thought we just ignored foreign speeding tickets ?????

Write to them and say that as they are seeking Independence you feel no obligation to pay such a fine. smile

Rob,

Be careful when you go to Broughtons on Monday as the newly wed Mrs Stanton has a very nice DBS Volante awaiting a new home,it could have your name on it.

So don't say you haven't had fair warning but there again its a Touchtronic so you may feel safe, sorry to hear about the speeding ticket and agree with Jockman on that one.

You should claim your rights to prema noct"a or what ever it is and watch them squirm.

Oooooh you are naughty Phillip, but I like you.......

As well you know my inference was aimed at the Highland Flying Squad and not the recently wedded beauty......

But there again it would make Monday mornings sales meeting all the more entertaining I feel.....

Ooooh you are so naughty.

Ed, long time no speak!! How the devil, still out of the fold or have you seen red yet? Thanks for the warning re the volante, i will have to sneak into the service department avoiding sales, just in case as if its quantum, despite being a TT2, i might be tempted, although having seen the next era, i may just bite!!

That said, Im still thrilled with mine, the sensor today is the only issue ive experienced to date (lets hope it stays that way) and the last weeks driving of all sorts of roads just hammered home why i still love it 2 years and 7000 miles on. I also love the fact that i saw only one other Aston the entire time, a silver 4.3 Vantage yet 2 weeks ago on a drive down to Christchurch I saw 3 different 458s! I also love the fact that when it turns the heads of all age groups from kids to grand parents but its a subtle turn as they are subtle cars. I know people knock the greys, blacks and silvers (which i do understand) but to me this enhances the subtlety of the car but each to their own. Cant wait for the next drive...

Hello Rob,

Hope you've enjoyed Scotland apart from the plod, strange our paths interweave as were off up that way shortly on one of our walk a bouts.

Yep still out of the fold but been close several times on Aston's but have been undecided, which is unlike me, still really don't know what to
go for as I keep trying to convince myself to go Touchtronic but still hanker for the manual.

Considering a rag top but then again I like coupes so on it goes round in circles but I've started to suffer withdrawal symptoms now so best
get some thing done about it.

Will stick with Aston 90% sure but the Dancing Donkey does rear its head occasionally to throw a spanner in the works.

Should really catch up and do something Aston related so give us a shout if your up for it.

Phil.

Was going to do Hever but will be on a test drive day that Sunday to hopefully put an end to my exile.

The Welsh Borders sounds good but only if I've sorted out a suitable ride, but once I'm back in the saddle I fully intend
to be part of the growing social event calendar,if you can all put up with my craziness

When remounted I would like to possibly organise a special day or two here around Stamford and Bourne as we have some lovely
Stately Homes such as Burghley House and Grimsthorpe Castle which I'm sure would make for a wonderful back drop for an Astoneers
day out.

So all thats needed is for me to get my finger out so you lot can come down and play and hopefully flush out the plethora of local Aston's
around here that don't appear to engage on this forum........

Any way mustn't hijack Robs thread so come on Rob lets have some pictures of the Scotish adventure and remember not to much aftershave on Monday Braveheart.

I'm near to King's Lynn/Sandringham Ed and seem to be the only PH Astoneer this way. I would be happy to help out if you re-join the fold and want to put something together for the mob on PH. beer

Correct,

Never a truer statement Phil, trust me my finger is half way out.

Kings Lynn area I know well Tony I'm sure there's more Astons out there than you think, they just need flushing out.

I'll put you in the frame when I get round to it Phil and I'll shoot you a PM Tony by way of introduction as well but don't hold
your breath this morning as I've been sent outside painting........again!.
