Hi guys,

I'm after some advice regarding tyres and perhaps someone here can help.

My current tyres are Pirelli P Zero Asimmetricos (sp?) 335/35ZR17 and 235/45ZR17.

The problem is that they don't really give much grip in the wet (in the dry they're OK) and I guess that they're maybe "going off" a bit due to their age. I'm not sure how old they are but I'm guessing that the 94Y on the sidewall indicates the year of manufacture?

Now, my questions are:

Are these tyres good for wet weather or should I "manage my expectations" as to what they can do?

Do you think they need changing because of their age?

Which tyres do you Ultima owners prefer?

I use the car for some road use, and also several track days each year.

I'd be really grateful for any experiences, tips, advice, etc......

Thanks in advance.

I know its not exactly a UK website, but www.tirerack.com has great reviews and testing of tires.
Cheers!

950KG and 400+ BHP is always going to be a challenge in the wet!!

I'm a big fan of Goodyear F1's but the Ultima is currently fitted with a set of SO2's (no longer available) so that's what it will get once the Bridgestones wear out.

The factory supplies F1's at quite a good rate if I recall.

I used to have 17" on my GTR, and used F1 GSD3's on the front and GSA's on the rear, it's what goodyear tyre technical department recomended. Not bad in the wet at all.

There's a rake of 17" Pilot Sports for sale on our forum, scroll down the thread. They are leftovers from the Silverstone supercar experience

I had 17" PZero's 335 on my old car, they sucked big time, pretty useless is an understatement
