Ignition coil.

Well after measuring everthing I can the car still won't tick over and on throttle runs lumpy. So as last resort I took the king lead out of the coil and ...... loads of oil ran out, so am now assuming that the coil is duff, is that a fair judgement and would it cause the non tickover and lunmpyness? So what coil do I need to get and where is a good place. Its a bit of a nuisance really as I was planning to go to megasquirt and wasted spark over the winter (not got time or money right now) so has anyone done this and want to sell me their coil?? (provided it is working)

email me you address ive got a 12 month old one in the garage you can have - it no use to me as im megasquirted. Also, do you have a Lucas rotor arm? Maybe not. Other are notorious. Either way a quick clean up of the rotor arm is always worth doing, and check the metal contact is tight on the dizzy rotor. Also check the centre pin of the dizzy cap is long enough.
Like you say prob the coil, but worth checking the rest.
