Cars fine but i don't think the ECU is doing to well or the lamda's

I fitted my new heater and apparently not very well as one of the hoses blow off filled the footwell with water and steam. I pulled over ASAP switched it off and disconnected the battery there was a little bit of water on the multi plug but the ECU was dry in side. I cleaned it all up best i could and fired it back up.

Problem- The MIL light is on, I hooked the lap top up and no fault codes, I reset them any way. Both Lamda's are reading 1.84v and don't move around very often. I drove the car a few miles back up the road as i was only out for fuel and it was awful to drive lurching and not picking up at all.

Any idea's? Have I goosed the ECU or a spike that has killed the lamda's?

Cheers Scotty frown

Back luck Scotty, it never rains but it pours frown

If i was you id remove the ecu, take the lid off and put it some where warm ( but not hot) in your house for a couple of days to totally dry it out... and then try it.

Hopefully its just damp round the connecter.

Tell me about it I gave it a good soaking in FE-10 and hit it with the air line and i have a little heater in the car set low just now trying to dry it out. I tried disconnecting the lamda's then ran it up hoping it would go in to a open loop mode with the Mil light off but no joy. When i plugged it back in one Lamda is working again but the other is still stuck at 1.84v But the MIL light is now flicking on and off as i rev it so it must be drying out where ever it is wet.

As you say it will dry it all out over night bring the ECU indoor and go have a beer and unwind. I am sick of looking at the Damn thing been upside down in the foot well all day fitting the heater. My own fault for not using the correct size hose clips. mad

If one Lamda has started working again, thats a good sign it was just damp interfence. Fingers crossed a good dry out will cure it.

Sounds like water in the lambda connectors. Mine used to do the same every time I washed it until I changed the connectors for some properly waterproof AMP Superseal ones. Give it a day or two to dry out and I suspect it will be fine.

Hi Peter that is reassuring to hear that. I suspect it will be in the main harness as that's where most of the water got in but must have found it's way to the Lamda pins or wiring. I soaked the whole thing in wd-40 last night so will head out soon and give it a try again. Fingers Crossed.

I put the ecu back in a connected the lap top up this morning and both Lamda's are around the 0v mark with the car off so looking good. It is a little early to fire the car up on a Sunday Morning so i will wait a couple of hours and see how i get on but it is looking good smile

I left a mini Dehumidifier in the car all night and it has taken a fair amount of water out.
