oil pressure pipe fractured
Discussion
This afternoon I decided to have a look at the slight oil leak which I have noticed on my CVH engined morgan over the last month or so, it seemed to be getting worse. It turned out that the oil pressure pipe from the engine block had a big crack in it!.
The location of the crack is just as the pipe enters the female fixing, on the way back to the pressure gauge, the brass edge seems to have cut into the plastic pipe. There is a little slack on this pipe so the easiest fix might be to chop off the pipe at the fracture point and refit into the connector, the only problem being that there is a brass olive at the end of the pipe which would need replacing.
What size would this have been before it got squashed in the fitting, the inside diameter of the pipe is 3mm. A quick look on the internet has so far not provided a solution - but I note that some cycle places stock 5 and 6mm olices for hydraulic brake applications, would one of these work?

The brass olive is doing nowhere near the work it would do if it were on a copper pipe.
Carefully remove the dead piece of plastic pipe from the olive. Place the olive on a piece of scrap wood and drive a pin punch into it to open it out a little. Turn it over and do the other side.
Re-assemble.
