Colour change (respray)
Discussion
This might be daft but I'm going to ask anyway:
Has anyone changed the colour of their Griff/Chimp & did it all go OK?
Reason I'm asking - having a full respray following some front end damage & keep thinking "I wonder...."
Cooper green at the mo' but fancy someyhing different. I know the easy route is to sell & buy another car, but I know this one's a good 'un & I've just spent a rather large wad on the suspension & brakes.

Presumably you're going to do the inside of the boot/bonnet and inner wings etc. to make the job look good. I had my MGB resprayed Primrose Yellow in 1984 and always regretted not having the engine out to do the whole thing properly - ended up with a Harvest Gold engine bay
Suppose you'll have to take all the boot carpet out etc, rear light smoked lenses off etc. Does your car have the rubber strip at the back?
What colour do you fancy changin to? Remember it's gotta go with your interior. Mine is two tone green so no other colour would do really for me. One less Cooper Green Chim rasies the trade in value of mine by about 23p so I'm all for it
Always fancied a Sage Green Cerbera for some reason. Looks very understated if that's possible.
Have you been to oboyle.com (I think). SHows TVRs in all sorts of colours. TMS have a colour guide on there site as well. www.tms-tvr.co.uk

There is a guy in the bristol region (I think he lives in Wells) who had his car resprayed silver (was dark green don't know which green) and it looks great.
Also BRM BRM had his SEAC resprayed from Red to Dark Met Grey (it now looks quite sinister
). I know that he took the precaution of getting the car rubbed down to the gelcoat before the new paint was applied to eliminate the risk of odd coloured stone chips, which is another thing to consider depending on what colour you plan to change to.
Personally I would suggest if you change the colour ensure you document the job so future buyers can see its not a cut and shut. If you plan to keep the car then go ahead.
Cheers Dan

I think his one had the lights converted front and back too., He also had the rubber strip on the 'bumper' at the back removed (as the later models). Looks very nice on the site. Agree with the gel coat comment. One more thing to consider: is there such a thing as a paintshop that specialises in spraying fibreglass? (As opposed to metal). What's the difference and are there any?
It's a Griff Mikey so no good for your resale! The inner wings on mine are a matt black finish. I was (sort of) thinking about a retrim anyhow so that's not really an issue.

, so this might all be pie in the sky.
