Heads Up Costco doing 20% off 4 Michellin
Discussion
Starts tomorrow until 1/7/2012.
Notable saving as usual prices are very keen and fully inclusive of all fitting costs plus NOX
Note I have no involvement in anyway with Costco apart from being a consumer I am certainly not advertising for them just highlighting a special offer to fellow petrol heads.
Max you can buy is 8 tyres
Hope it saves people some wedge
I only every buy my tyres from Costco and only when on deal just don't think I need new rubber just yet I can last until the November /December deal

Just given them a call (Reading branch to be exact) for a price on a set of Pilot Sport 2's (Runflats)
225/40/18
255/35/18
£1192 all in
£954.20 with the 20% off applied.
I'm not quite down to needing replacements yet, but thought it'd give a few people some idea of price.
I'm looking for a full set in that exact size. I think I'll just stick with Falken 452's, full set will set me back £420 at full price 225/40/18

Yup, FK452's will be going on, I was just curious as to how much it would cost to replace the Pilot Sport 2's that came with the car.

It's my second E9x so I'm well aware of switching from the runflats, and I've run Falkens for many years on all sorts.

Can you share how many miles Falkens have lasted you in the past.

Also what is the stopping distance in wet and dry v Michellin and the lateral grip both wet and dry they offer.
End of the day they are inferior tyres in longevity so could be similar total cost plus the safety aspect and performance aspect of the product.
I need 4 off 205/55 16 V in the next few weeks, and priced up costco at £329, mini 20%.
Which is a f
k load of money. Now I've priced up other decent tyres, and cheapo budget, and I can get Mitchelins Elsewhere for similar money, so I'm wondering what value I get for my membership ?
I can get Budgets from £160 but decent brands I would trust are in the mid £200's (210 to 270) and I'm all for long term savings if they last longer, but have no proof, that helps me out.

The other prices you have is that total cost? Disposal Nitrogen Oxide values balancing? If not then the gap is bigger.
Us of course exec membership gives you 2% back so that's another £6off.
Always do exec membership at worst case we cover the additional fee of that membership at best we have had a very nice kickback due to our spending during the previous year.
Off at a tangent - can I just walk into my local Costco & join? I am one of the professions that can get a card apparently, but do I just take a payslip and sign up there and then, or does it have to be done in advance.
Alternatively, any kind PHer planning on going to CostCo in Croydon in the next couple of days fancy picking something up for me?

On the dailies (E39 530d Sport, VX Omega 3.0 MV6, Mondeo ST220) from memory it was around the 25k possibly 30k mark for mileage, so around the same as the Michellins. Also what is the stopping distance in wet and dry v Michellin and the lateral grip both wet and dry they offer.

Grip wise, well I had no complaints going round Llandow, and Anglesey so grip wasn't an issue, likewise stopping distance was fine.
For the price point they are hard to be beaten.

Yup, if you qualify you can sign up in store (well warehouse but you know what I mean!) Alternatively, any kind PHer planning on going to CostCo in Croydon in the next couple of days fancy picking something up for me?

You can find a copy of the application form on their website, I just printed off a copy, filled it in, as well as bringing along the required documentation, and paid for my membership. Your membership card is done on the spot. Took about 15 mins in total.

I was shocked cause the last tyres I bought were 145/70/12, for a mini from mytyres and they were very cheap in comparison.
Oh yes I've remembered. If they don't do a mitchelin in your size, then costco will fit new tyres for £8 each. Which IS a bargain these days. Must get some 195/60/14's for the cavalier soon too, and they don't do that size.

It's a smingen under £300 is it not? The other prices include fitting and balancing, but actually the main issue I had with Costco, was quite minor, in that they only take one type of credit card, and until I pay myself next week I don't have £300 to play with (without dipping into savings)

Tyres do have a link to oil price changes. I was shocked cause the last tyres I bought were 145/70/12, for a mini from mytyres and they were very cheap in comparison.

I recall buying one set of Exalto 2's michellibg 205/55/r16 for £65 each from Costco at the deal time.

If you've got somewhere to store them you can buy now and get them fitted later.
Do watch the prices though - they used to be cheaper all the time and then the discount made them amazingly cheap. Now they're quite dear at normal prices and not always cheaper even with discount, and you have to buy 4 to get the discount now whoch means some people are probably changing 2 of the tyres before they need to.
On one of the Merc forums a member the other day found eTyres cheaper even after the discount and they'll come round to your house or work an fit them.
Obviously this is comparing like for like Michelin tyres - if you're not bothered about using Michelin then almost anything else will be cheaper.
Of course if you g to Costco you'll spend £200 on crap that you never knew you needed so that rather kills almost any discount.
Oh, and they fill the tyres with Nitrogen (N) not nitrous oxide (N20).
