We took a look at a ford fiesta on a 55 plate 1600 zetec, had a few parking dings, but what caught my eye was the fact there was no history, and they where not sure how many owners it had.

Of course this rang alarm bells as with only 22k on the clock and priced at £4995.00
Would this be worth a punt?, Because she seems to have set her heart on it.

Maybe I should offer £3800 ,What do you reckon?

Clocked hence why the history has been binned, would be my first thought. Check the MOT's online.

If it's £4995 and you offer them £3,800 be prepared to be told serious offers considered but not silly offers.

Check the mileage with a vosa Mot history check you will need the v5 ref number.

Quite likely it's been clocked for such low miles and no history.

Wouldn't touch it, there are loads of them about so you can afford to be fussy.

Nobody does mileage that low, 22k on a 55-plate is about 3000 - 3500 a year so it has obviously been clocked and the lack of any service history is suspicious.

If you really are going to go for it I'd recommend doing a HPI check to establish how many previous owners and check the MOT history online to see what mileages are recorded.

for 5k i would sell you my 07 plate (march 08 car) fiesta zetec S 1600 wit 56k on it, 10 months test and just had a full major service last wed from a real good indi, so 5k for a 55 plate seems a touch overpriced to me tbh.

i dont agree about nobody does low milage my misses only does 3 - 4k a year in her car so a second family car it could be that low, but agreed no history and not knowing about previous ownership does sound very fishy

It is definitely overpriced, just had a quick look on Autotrader.

For that money you could get a newer clean and genuine facelift 1.6 Zetec S, so why bother with a pre-facelift clocked shed.

You'll find it very difficult to sell.

to see the previous MOTs.

Don't know about "No one does that low a mileage" thing. My wifes car (our main car) has just on 14 K miles on the clock and it's just four years old.

Yeah fair enough I take that comment back, but it is unusual to do mileage that low, and it raises suspicions when a vehicle with such mileage lacks any kind of history wink
